Central Library Rules and Regulations

Students are requested to avail the library facility to the maximum.


Service Hours : Monday - Saturday - 8.30 am to 6.00 pm.

Transaction Hours : Monday - Saturday - 8.30 am to 6.00 pm.

No transactions on Sundays and other holidays.

Text Library

General Conduct inside the Library

  • Complete silence shall be maintained inside the library.
  • Conversation in any form inside the library is discouraged. Due care must be taken not to disturb the environment of the library.
  • Outsiders are allowed into the library only with the prior permission of Chairman / Director / CAO / Deans of various schools and shall be accompanied by a college staff.
  • Cell phones, Eatables are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Make use of the electrical appliances like lights, fans etc. sparingly and if necessary.
  • Students shall follow prescribed dress code and they must avoid wearing aprons or over coats.
  • Change of personal information viz. address, contact numbers etc. shall be informed to the librarian and keep the records updated.

  • UG students are eligible to borrow a maximum of 4 books.
  • PG students are eligible to borrow a maximum of 4 books.
  • Normal borrowing period is fixed at 15 continuous days (including holidays and non working days) for students; beyond which, non-return of the borrowed books will invite penalty as per institution norms.
  • Renewal is allowed once only for a period of 7 continuous days, if there are no reservations.
  • "Non-Circulation materials" viz. Periodicals (Magazines, Newspapers, etc.) are not borrowable.
  • Reference books, Journals will not be issued for borrowing.
  • Faculty members and adjunct staff are eligible to borrow a maximum of 5 and retain it for a period of maximum 2 months in the first instance. He / She can borrow the same book after a gap of one day and can keep it for another two months.

  • Keep personal belongings, bags, note books, folders etc. at the property counter positioned at the entry of library.
  • Make entry in the e-gate register (Software system with Bar code reader) both before entry into the library and before exit from the library.
  • Return the library books borrowed, on or before the due date.
  • Before borrowing the books verify the condition of the book and intimate the library authority if the book is damaged or soiled in any form. Failure to do so, fixes the responsibility on the borrower.
  • Loss of borrowed materials shall be informed to the Librarian promptly in writing.

  • Don't scribble, underline, and mark with highlighter inside the books borrowed.
  • Don't attempt using the services of the library staff for non-legitimate purposes.
  • Don't replace the books back into the shelves; they shall be taken care of by the library staff.
Digital Library

Computers with internet connection have been provided for this purpose with a collection of digital media. All rules and regulations applicable to texts shall be applicable to digital media as well.

  • Entry must be made in the system usage register before and after using the digital library.
  • Any media borrowed shall be maintained with equal care.

In the case of damage / loss or borrowed item

  • The borrower has to replace the borrowed item (series in whole in case of borrowed item(s) is part of a set or series). The borrower may replace with the specific edition / higher edition / improved version (in the case of digital media) along with the bills of purchase. The fine will also be levied till the date of replacement as applicable (book / other media).
  • On replacement by the borrower the damaged / soiled / defaced item will become the property of the borrower.
  • 3 times the cost of borrowed item - in the case of non availability of the borrowed item in the market.

NOTE:Items that are not returned withing 3 weeks from the due date are assumed to be lost by the candidate and the library will initiate replacement process.
